Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Béatrice Thiriet's score for The Song of Scorpions. The movie is a story of twisted love, revenge and the redemptive power of a song. Nooran, carefree and defiantly independent, is a tribal woman leaning the ancient art of healing from her grandmother, a revered scorpion-singer. When Aadam, a camel trader in the Rajasthan desert, hears her sing, he falls desperately in love. But even before they can get to know each other better, Nooran is poisoned by a brutal treachery that sets her on a perilous journey to avenge herself and find her song... Béatrice Thiriet delivers a subtle, thematically rich score for The Song of Scorpions. Each track of the 26 (35 min, 07 sec) on offer instantly conjures up images in the listeners imagination. At its heart, this is a romantic album with a lot of heart. It opens with the sweeping 'A Camel Driver' which beautifully sets the scene for what is to come. Other highlights included 'A Woman in the Desert', which strides purposely into John Williams territory; the brooding, yet ultimately beautiful 'Suspicion'; and the impending danger that runs through 'The Rape', and is continued in 'Tempest'. There's no getting away from the fact that Thiriet's score is an integral character in the movie and as such this will make a wonderful musical souvenir for the film's fans. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
