Dominique Fils-Aimé's third album Three Little Words is a startlingly self-reflective look at affecting societal change while reminding the listener that it is equality and love which feeds the soul and inspires us to do better... Dominique Fils-Aimé has a disarmingly literal interpretation of soul music as music that comes from the soul, and There Little Words pays homage to a plethora of musical genres that fed and nurtured her love of lyric-driven jazz and soul music. If you don't instantly fall in love with Fils-Aimé's vocals then you're probably never going to be a fan of soul music. She brings the genre kicking and screaming into the modern day while still managing to respect the roots of the past. While I enjoyed this LP from start to finish, I had to double check the lyrics on 'Love Take Over (single version)'. Apparently she doesn't sing: "Anal stuffing now..." She's actually singing: "Ain't no stopping now". I assume these aren't the "Three Little Words" that the album's title refers to. That silly observation aside, this is a wonderfully relevant soul album that will lift your spirits. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
