Portland-based indie rock band Corvair, comprised of husband / wife duo Brian Naubert and Heather Larimer, release their self-titled, debut album via Paper Walls in the US and WIAIWYA in the UK. Brian Naubert and Heather Larimer are both seasoned musicians, having performed in bands such as Eux Autres, Ruston Mire and The Service Providers. Naubert and Larimer’s decades of separate music making have finally combined, culminating in this tour de force from two formidable songwriters...

For a debut album, Corvair is pretty impressive. The confidence and energy on display here feels more like a band that has been gigging together for years. This is a mellow indie rock style, but with a twist of folk.

The songs shift and change focus as the 10 songs (43 min, 55 sec) rattle on. There's a distinct '70s/'80s vibe on tracks like 'Sailor Down'

'Focus Puller' is about as mild and chilled out as we get. Larimer's vocals drip beautifully over the simple tune and then, just as you think you know where it's heading, the music is kicked up a notch.

This is an album that you'll enjoy getting to know, and it will take quite a few listens to pick up on all of the subtle elements. A wonderful debut that sees Corvair burst onto the scene.
