Wewantsounds release, on vinyl, Michel Legrand's original score for the 1969 movie La Piscine, with additional tracks from Un Homme est Mort (1972) on a bonus 7"...

This release is only really going to find a welcome home in the music libraries of soundtrack collectors who love retro movie scores. Michel Legrand's La Piscine is very much of its time and has not aged particularly well. It's a snapshot of a very specific period of cinematic history... but it's very unlikely to find a mainstream audience.

The fact that Wewantsounds has given this a lavish vinyl release wonderfully illustrates their commitment to bringing cinema history to those who are fans, and for that fact alone the label should be applauded.

It's a weird collection of songs and disco-style themes. 'Onyx Bar' sounds like the soundtrack to a soft core pornographic film of the time period (er... I imagine) complete with soft female moaning.

Not an album I was particularly interested in, but it's great that there is a label out there releasing long forgotten soundtracks.
