Weyrd Son Records brings us Glaare's new LP, Your Hellbound Heart. The 2017 release of their debut album, To Deaf & Day, brought the band both critical praise and swift ascent to their place in the LA darkwave pantheon. Your Hellbound Heart, just like the book it’s named after, is the embodiment of pleasure granted to someone after a time of extreme torture. Its relation to the '80s classic movie Helllraiser, as well as  countless other nostalgic stories involving familiar metaphors of life journeys...

Unashamedly retro in style and subject matter, Your Hellbound Heart transports the listener back to the '80s with synths, drum machines and an upbeat vibe.

This 8 track (37 min, 23 sec) LP starts off with 'Young Hell', which pretty much paves the way for what is to come. 'For Sale' is a little like OMD meets Madonna. The similarities with Madonna really come to the fore in '2 Cents' - which could almost be a lost '80s Madonna single.

While I rather enjoyed this, I don't think it has the legs to stand up to too many repeat listens. But if you're after a fun, boppy album to enjoy for a week or two you might get a lot of pleasure out of Your Hellbound Heart.
