Over the course of a career that so far spans 48 years, Kayak have established themselves as one of Holland's most successful progressive rock bands, with a loyal, international fanbase. Out of This World is the band’s eighteenth studio album, with 15 new tracks, spanning 1 hr, 10 min and 48 sec of energetic and diverse material. The tracks show Kayak’s broad musical horizon, while still deeply rooted in prog rock. Moving ballads, adventurous epics, solid rock and sophisticated melodies- it’s all there, and more...

Out of This World is a progressive rock album that feels a little like a tentative first bash at creating a rock opera in progress. The tracks are diverse and engaging but it feels like there's a driving force behind the music as though it's an ongoing story. It's got all the hallmarks of a great rock opera... without... er... actually being one.

Not only do you get a lot of music for your money, the diverse styles on offer also mean you're very unlikely to tire of this anytime soon. One week you'll have certain tracks on repeat, only to replace them with others, depending on your mood.

I don't know if it was intentional, but I had to smile at the end of 'Red Rag to a Bull', it sounds very much like one of the repetitive tunes from the My Singing Monsters mobile game.

If you love prog rock this is an essential purchase. This is certainly an album you'll get years of pleasure out of.
