Polyvinyl Record Co release the new album from Bachelor, the collaborative project of Palehound’s Ellen Kempner and Jay Som’s Melina Duterte. Doomin' Sun is a retro sounding rock album with Pixie vibes... While listening to Bachelor's Doomin' Sun I was sent spinning back on a nostalgic journey. I was transported back to the first time I was introduced to Pixies' Surfer Rosa. I defy anyone to listen to 'Stay in the Car' and 'Sick of Spiraling' without thinking: "Um... that's very Pixie-esque". But don't for one minute think that this is a critisism. There's much more to Bachelor than this. The album's 10 songs (33 min, 23 sec) really shine through as well polished tracks that have been finely crafted. Yes, the short running time is disappointing, but you'll love each and every song. Now how many albums of late can you say that about? Not many. An entertaining and deeply satisfying release. I'm hoping there's more to come in the future. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
