Delivering 50 familiar songs, imbued with contemporary arrangements and recording techniques, pianist Joey Misquita and London Music Works create an album with an expansive sound and cinematic piano production, bringing the style of Lounge into the 2020s. Gone are the Exotica and Space Age Pop to be replaced by the sound of the contemporary film music score. Songs featured on the album range from Chart Hits (Abba’s 'The Winner Takes It All', Lionel Richie's 'Stuck On You', Tears for Fears' 'Mad World') to classic film music (Ennio Morricone's Chi Mai, John Barry's Somewhere in Time, Patrick Doyle’s 'The Dreame' from Sense and Sensibility) and musicals ('On My Own' from Les Miserables, 'City of Stars' from La La Land)... Who doesn't like a bit of solo piano music? How about solo piano focusing on classic pop, musicals and TV and film music... but handled with loving respect for the original material, rather than some quickly knocked out rubbish? 50 Piano Classics delivers a wonderful collection of tracks with a running time of 3 hr, 01 min, 25 sec. The chances are you'll know all 50 (or at the very least the majority of these tracks) no matter your age. You can even have a bit of fun by ignoring the track listing and seeing if you can guess all 50. Despite the fact it ruined an entire summer for me (because it was at the top of the charts for so long, and seemed to be played everywhere you went), Bryan Adams' '(Everything I Do) I Do It for You' is given a new lease of life on this album. My only slight complaint is that a few of the tracks fade out, rather than ending, which makes them feel a little unnatural. If you were sitting in a lounge listening to them they would all have endings to them, so I'm not sure why they were just lazily faded out. Track listing: 01.
