Milan Records release the original score for the movie 12 Mighty Orphans, with music by Mark Orton. The film was directed by Ty Roberts and is based on the non fiction sports based book Twelve Mighty Orphans: The Inspiring True Story of the Mighty Mites Who Ruled Texas Football by Jim Dent... Mark Orton delivers a Deep South flavoured score for 12 Mighty Orphans. At times I was slightly reminded of Thomas Newman's work. There's also a traditional Irish music feel to a number of the tracks. It all boils down to whether you're a fan of this style of location specific music. Personally it's not one that's ever really appealed to me. While on balance this isn't a bad score, there were only a handful of tracks that grabbed my attention every single time I listened to the album: 'Without a Quarterback'; 'Cheers for the Mighty Mites'; and the closing track 'Bus Trip Home / Photo'. This no doubt works well in the movie. Sadly, on the whole there wasn't enough variety of themes to keep my attention. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
