Gramps Morgan's latest album, Positive Vibration, is available via Halo Entertainment Group / The Orchard. Roy “Gramps” Morgan was born into one of reggae’s royal families. His father, Denroy Morgan, a Jamaican immigrant, helped form the Black Eagles, New York’s first reggae group. He also organized several of his children into a reggae band with Gramps joining the appropriately titled Morgan Heritage. In 2009, after fifteen years of touring and recording with Morgan Heritage, the band decided to pursue solo careers... Gramps Morgan's Positive Vibration is an uplifting, energised, life affirming album. After just one play through I was hooked and each time I relistened it was like visiting an old album I'd cherished for years. The 15 songs (50 min, 28 sec) manage to pay homage to the history of reggae without sounding cliched or stepping on the toes of other artists - and that's quite a skill. The LP opens with the titular 'Positive Vibration', an infectious song that will get in your head. And it never lets up or dips in quality. Sure, there are songs that you'll like more than others, but that's more to do with what style of songs you enjoy more. If Reggae is a genre you've never really got around to embracing, then Positive Vibration is the perfect introduction to a rich and varied market. If you're a fan of reggae then this should already by on your wishlist. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
