Like opening a time-capsule of '70s hits you never knew existed, Silvertwin’s debut release promises an intoxicating rush of retro-pop nuance and artful nostalgia. Think Paul McCartney produced by ELO and you’re part-way there; Silvertwin serves-up 10 lovingly crafted treasures hallmarked with the songwriting flourishes and the misty-eyed, lovelorn charms of a once golden era for music, with a sound as familiar as your childhood soundtrack... Imagine if Leo Sayer and Burt Bacharach joined forces, wrote the best 10 songs of their careers and released them as an album. I can't help thinking that the end result would be not dissimilar to Silvertwin's debut album. As song after song rattle along, each will be your new favourite... In fact, it's fair to say that each track here is strong enough to be a single in its own right. Obvious highlights include opener 'Ploy', 'Doubted', 'Promises' (probably my favourite track), and 'You Only'. This is one of those rare albums that I enjoyed on the first play through and kept returning to time and time again. It really did feel like a part of my childhood. An impressive debut album that hits the ground running. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
