Maximilien Mathevon's score for Generation Kalach is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. The documentary looks at the new generations of gangsters and traffickers from the suburbs who are growing increasingly organized and becoming more violent. The music, like the documentary, is dark and desperate, using twisted and distorted electronic tones, out of tune piano and a number of synthetic textures... The music for Generation Kalach represents a "concept album" from composer Maximilien Mathevon, with a theme and three long suites. It's atmospheric, eerie and there's a general sense of foreboding that runs across all 4 tracks (45 min, 50 sec). It works beautifully as an electronic soundscape, but there's no escaping that this is dark in tone - almost like a score for a dystopian future based movie. If you're new to Mathevon's work then it's well worth checking out his back catalogue. He's versatile and no two works are even slightly similar. This is another impressive release from an incredible artist. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
