Nashville’s Mickey Guyton releases, Remember Her Name, via Decca Records. Mickey co-penned 15 of the 16 songs on the album... While the 16 songs (50 min, 45 sec) on this album are varied, well performed and produced I couldn't help feeling it was an album out of time. While the lyrics reflect a modern society the music feels very '80s. In fact, there's a little Whitney Houston vibe going on here. The diversity on offer should be championed, but it appears to be an album that few will enjoy every track. We go from standard pop tracks to country. 'Smoke' stands out a little too country to appeal to a mainstream pop audience, while 'Rosé' straddles the line between both genres. Is it pop? Is it country? At the end of the day it won't matter to her fans, but the casual listener, drawn in by Guyton's singles, may find this a little confusing. 6 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
