Award-winning director Joe Wright envelops moviegoers in a symphony of emotions with music, romance, and beauty in the upcoming musical drama Cyrano, re-creating the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. Cyrano’s powerful soundtrack, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, is written and composed by Bryce and Aaron Dessner of Grammy Award-winning American rock band The National with lyrics from the band’s Matt Berninger and composer Carin Besser... Cyrano retells the classic story that first appeard in the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (played by Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne (Haley Bennett), Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her - and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.). Decca do a fantastic job of capturing the magic of the movie with this collection of songs and score from Cyrano. The album contains 27 tracks (1 hr, 17 min, 37 sec) and I was really impressed with the way the album's tracks were presented. Mixing the score in amongst the vocal tracks works well to keep the listener engaged. The songs are universally praiseworthy, and the score helps to add a beautiful melancholic atmosphere to the album. Who can fail to be moved by the raw and powerful cast performance on songs like 'Wherever I Fall - Pt. 1'. While the singing is a little rough around the edges it helps to add to the realism and emotion. For fans of the film this is a wonderful musical souvenir that you'll cherish. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
