Milan Records release Lorne Balfe's third collection of music from The Wheel of Time (Season 1, Vol. 3). The series’ vast musical universe was initially introduced with the release of The Wheel of Time: The First Turn, a conceptual album of key themes written by Balfe for the characters, settings and ideas central to the show, with many of Balfe’s final score cues developing as variations of these initial themes... Lorne Balfe's music for The Wheel of Time is intricate, multi-layered and integral to setting the mood for the series it's composed for. His "conceptual" album for the score (The First Turn) showcased the show's main themes and was a wonderful collection of memorable set pieces. Unfortunately this release (Season 1, Vol 3), is mostly comprised of atmospheric background cues. The music is well conceived, but the presentation is lacking and there's very little in the way of memorable, thematic music. 'False Promise' was the only track which caught my attention. If you're a huge fan of the show, then you may find something here to your liking, but personally I'd pick up The First Turn and leave this release alone. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
