WaterTower Music releases the original soundtrack to The Matrix Resurrections which features music composed by Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer it also includes 11 remixes by Klimek, Tykwer, Marcel Dettmann, Moderna, Thomas Fehlmann, System 01, Esther Silex & Kotelett, Gudrun Gut, Almost Falling, Psychic Health, Eclectic Youth, and Alessandro Adriani... I'm not usually a fan of soundtracks that mix the score and various artist tracks but, in the case of The Matrix Resurrections, WaterTower Music really do deliver a cracking album to appeal to everyone. It contains 35 tracks (2hr, 27 min). The first 24 (1 hr, 17 min, 20 sec) is Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer original score. The remaining 11 tracks (1 hr, 9 min, 40 sec) represent various artist remixes, which are dance/electronic instrumental pieces. The music, on occasion, pays homage to Don Davis's original score from the original The Matrix (1999). It certainly feels like a spiritual successor to the original, and I'm glad the composers trod a similar path as it makes for an instantly comfortable (but not lazy) listening experience. The first half of the album has all the action, adventure and suspense you'd expect from the score, whilst the second half has modern electronic dance tracks that should appease the younger fans. I really enjoyed this album. I was originally fearful that the music was going to head in a different direction and so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is a natural progression for the franchise. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
