Take on the role of a young rescue officer starting her career. Armed with a trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose that also acts as a jetpack, Firegirl responds to emergency calls across the city. Can Firegirl save all the trapped civilians caught in each blaze? Can she uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city? Find out in a mystery that goes all the way to the top...
Firegirl: Hack 'n Splash Rescue DX is an old school platform game with large, bright retro graphics. Each level is procedurally generated so, if you fail and retry, the level will be totally different. The game starts off at your fire station where (if you have enough credits) upgrade various aspects of your firefighting equipment, buy new items in the shop or high new staff. Then it's off to the next fire. Use your axe to chop down debris in your way or doors. As you sweep the rooms use your hose to put out fire demons or use it to boost up to higher levels. You have to try and find and rescue the trapped civilians before finding the exit and heading back to the station.
If you complete certain tasks your chief may award you new badges, which can be worn with pride (plus they give you certain advantages in game). It's a little formulaic and rather repetitive (thankfully the procedurally generated levels help here) but I couldn't help but be constantly drawn back to this game. It's fun, addictive and a loving slice of retro gaming. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
