Hell Pie is an obscene 3D platformer that takes bad taste to the next level! The game sees you grab the horns of Nate, the ‘Demon of Bad Taste’. He is given the honourable task of gathering the disgusting ingredients for Satan’s infamous birthday pie. To do so, Nate must venture out into the overworld and do whatever it takes to ensure those ingredients are secured in time, or there’ll be hell to pay! Luckily Nate isn’t alone on this quest, his ‘pet’ angel Nugget is there to offer support. Nugget offers his holy insight when needed, but more importantly is chained to Nate, so can be used like a grappling hook or swung around as a weapon. Nate can also equip horns he finds across the world to give him new hellish abilities. Together Nate and Nugget will explore insane environments, meet tons of repugnant characters and witness some truly shocking sights...

Play as Nate, a demon of bad taste

Hell Pie is a ridiculously outragous fun 3D platformer that starts as quite a small, compact game before opening up to large world environments where you can come and go as you see fit.

Each world has its own inhabitants and secrets and this is one of those games that rewards those of us who just love exploring every nook and cranny in a bid to find every collectible and easter egg.

You play as Nate, a demon of bad taste, the 8th deadly sin. While not taken very seriously in hell, he is feared on earth (by some...a few...2-3 people at least). In your quest you are shackled to captured angel Nugget, who doesn't look like the angels of storybooks and legend. But that doesn't matter - he's quite useful. Throw him like a grappling hook, use him as a weapon and let him be your guide. As you go about your quests collect the local currency and then trade it for new outfits for Nate and Nugget and the various market stalls dotted around the worlds.

Unlock extra abilities for Nate and Nugget

Your main quest involves you travelling around looking for the ingredients that Satan's cook wants you to collect so he can make a mouth watering masterpiece. As you wander around you can also unlock extra abilities for Nate and Nugget which will help you get to areas previously unreachable.

I did have a few issues with the game initially. However, we were playing this over a week before its official release, so I'm hoping that these problems will be addressed in a future patch. Firstly, but most worryingly, I kept getting error pop-ups telling me that I was unable to save the game whenever I reached a checkpoint... and then it would randomly do this mid-game for no obvious reason. Thankfully, when I quit the game and came back later it had saved my last save point... so I'm not really sure why I kept getting the error notices.

This is a game that rewards those who explore every nook and cranny

The other glitch I spotted, but it didn't happen very often, was that the currency you collect in game would occasionally get jammed and would be impossible to pick up, even thought you were clearly walking over it. To be perfectly honest, neither of these was a huge problem. Yes, the error pop-ups were an inconvenience, but I can't see that not being patched almost immediately.

I probably enjoyed this far more than I should have. The only time I flinched was when I was forced to sacrifce a big eyed, cute baby unicorn. What sick mind came up with that? Give them a pay rise.

It's funny, it's crude and it is a hell of a lot of fun.
