Only together can they shape the future! Guide them as one in this compelling standalone chapter that serves as a jumping-on point for those new to Sword and Fairy while paying tribute to the series' grand legacy...
Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is the latest installment of the long running Chinese mythology-based series. Don't worry if you haven't played any of the previous games, or even heard of the franchise, as this works wonderfully as a standalone game. The game starts with a tutorial that feels like part of the main narrative, before we're into the game proper. This is helpful as there's quite a bit to get your head around. And even when the main game opens, it's still some time before you're introduced to other parts of the mechanics that make it such an in depth and enjoyable outing. However, it won't appeal to everyone. If you're the sort of gamer who likes to hack 'n' slash your way through level after level of beasties, Sword and Fairy: Together Forever might disappoint you. However, if you're a lover of deep and engaging storylines with long and well plotted cut sequences, then you'll love the attention to detail and the ongoing storyline.
There are segments where you'll sit through long story exposition before briefly controlling your character again, where you'll be forced to walk a short distance before encountering another long cut sequence. For some this will be unbearably dull. For others the plot is an essential part of enjoying the game as you bond with the characters and experience the story unfold around you. When you do get to wander around the world, it's worth taking a little time to enjoy the scenery as it is truly breathtaking (not to mention there are hidden items to be found if you explore every nook and cranny).
The game comes in two formats. There's the standard edition, or for £5 you can pick up the premium edition with also include Modern Style Outfits Add-On; Digital Soundtrack (79 tracks); Dynamic Theme for PS4; and 4 Avatars. To be honest it's probably worth spend the extra just to own the soundtrack. A truly wonderful game that's rich plot helps to ensure it's one you'll return to time and time again. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
