Surf the waters of a submerged city. Fight gigantic sea monsters, save your neighbours and uncover the secrets hidden under the surface. Explore the open sea and the decaying archipelago of Strandville in Wavetale, a story-driven action-adventure game introducing you to fed-up fishermen, secretive hermits - and maybe a pirate or two. Traverse calm waters and surging waves as Sigrid, a young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that provides her with the power to walk on water. Speed through the waves, swing yourself from housetops with your net, and defeat monstrous enemies to save the citizens of the islands...

Explore the islands of her futuristic Waterworld-esque homeworld

Wavetale sees you play as Sigrid, a young girl who must explore the islands of her futuristic Waterworld-esque homeworld completing quests for locals and friends as you skate over the water and swing between buildings.

Sigrid lives in a lighthouse with her grandmother. This lighthouse is not only an important landmark, but is also used to stop a mysterious encroaching fog that hangs in the air on the fringes of your world.

There are several small islands and landmarks which can be visited and any current goals/quests appear onscreen along with an icon on the compass at the top of the screen. Collected currency can be used to purchase cosmetic upgrades.

Combat is simple, but that's not overly important as the main aim of the game is exploration and collecting items to use to help strangers and friends.

While this is a fluid, polished game, the one aspect that might be its major undoing is that it's a very short game. Even the most casual gamer should be able to complete this in a lazy weekend, or in a determined afternoon.

It's fun and compelling, yet once completed there's very little that will make you want to revisit it.
