Milan Records release a second volume of music from season one of 1883, with music by Brian Tyler and Breton Vivian. The show is the prequel to Paramount Network’s popular series Yellowstone, and follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land - Montana... For those who bought and loved volume 1 of this series, volume 2 offers more in a similar vein. It's a reflective, thoughtful score which at times really tugs at the heartstrings. The album contains 26 tracks (1 hr, 33 min, 38 sec). Pieces like '1883 Theme', 'The Crosses Left Behind' and 'It was Beautiful' are tracks that you'll instantly want to add to your "favourites" playlist. They're melancholic, and emotionally rewarding. The album, as a whole, contains a number of themes that are woven through out the tracks, but they're subtle and spaced apart enough that you never feel they've been overused. This is a score that works just as well as a standalone album as it does when accompanying the onscreen action. Even if you have no idea what the show is about, you'll still find much to enjoy here. For lovers of rich, varied scores you'll find plenty to sink your teeth into here. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
