Wayne Roberts' score for SAS: Who Dares Wins, is released via Blip. The Channel 4 show sees contestants taken through the SAS selection process - a gruelling and torturous sequence of tasks designed to test a persons physical and mental strength. A survival of the fittest reality TV show...

The soundtrack to SAS: Who Dares Wins was partly inspired by the soundtracks to futuristic synth laden Roller Ball, as well as John Carpenter's Escape from New York. Although, not being a huge fan of Carpenter's compositional work, I think this comparison is doing an injustice to Wayne Roberts' music here.

I have to be honest and admit I've not seen the show - it really doesn't appeal to me in the slightest - but what Roberts' delivers is music fit for a Hollywood movie, rather than a reality TV show.

It opens with the memorable thematic 'The Final Hour', which really helps to set the tone for what is to come. It's a deep, richly layered score that houses quite a few hidden gems.

This limited double gatefold album (29 tracks - 1 hr, 10, min, 21 sec) release showcases tracks from the show's six year archive. This cinematic album of synth arpeggios with epic orchestral accompaniment has this score standing shoulder to shoulder with the best of today’s film soundtracks.
