Nir Perlman's score for Toxica is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. The movie sees an injured stunt woman infected by an ancient biological compound, when a side job as a PI goes wrong... Horror scores, for me, in general come in two camps: Those that resonate on an emotional level and those that are ambient background cues full of jump scares. Nir Perlman manages to create warmth, emotion and some wonderfully moving set pieces on his intricate score for Toxica. The album consists of 15 tracks (38 min, 43 sec) and there are so many impressive little segments hidden away that you can probably listen to this 100 times and still find something new to get excited about. 'Inside the Layer' felt very reminiscent of Danny Elfman's Gothic work with Tim Burton, but the majority of the score is original and refreshing - something rare in modern horror scores. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
