Late Night Calls

Release Date: 29 April 2022

Touching on themes including beauty and heartbreak, love and salvation, Blue Violet's new LP, Late Night Calls, spins absorbing narratives as it traverses genres. Released via Me & My Records the album was recorded by the husband and wife duo over the course of a month with a range of collaborators, including Rod Brakes on lead guitar and bass duties and Portishead’s Jim Barr laying down double bass on one track...

There's a familiar quality to the majority of the songs on Late Night Calls. Once heard, on repeat listens songs like 'Rabbit Hole' feel like tracks you grew up on. You can almost swear you know them, but can't quite place where from.

As the album rumbles on you soon realise that all 10 songs, while sharing a common theme, are very different. And I think it was this quality that really drew me back to listen again and again.

Personal favourite tracks included the opening 'White Beaches', the infectious 'Rabbit Hole' and the slower paced 'Poster Girl' (a song that really gets its claws into you).

It's such an impressive collection of intricate and multilayered songs that it's hard not to instantly fall in love with the results. It's certainly got a timeless quality that will ensure you'll be digging it out and playing for years to come.
