Decca Records release the original motion picture soundtrack to Downton Abbey: A New Era, scored by composer John Lunn. The soundtrack retains the distinctive sweeping orchestration and title motifs from the television series whilst celebrating the story’s entrance to a new decade with 1930s swinging Jazz and embracing the glitz of early cinema... John Lunn delivers a lush orchestral score for the movie Downton Abbey: A New Era. And dotted in amongst the score's 19 tracks (52 min, 30 sec) are a couple of the jazz numbers that appear in the film, including 'Crazy Rhythm' and 'Am I Blue', both performed by Cherise Adams-Burnett. Even if, like me, you're not a Downton Abbey fan there's still plenty to sink your teeth into here. The overall feel is of a cross between a James Bond score and classical music. There are so many intricate and beautiful themes here that most should find plenty to enjoy. The closing 'Downton Abbey - The Suite' highlights the main themes in 7 mins, 06 sec. Lunn really pulls out the stops here to deliver a timeless, classical score that you'll want to return to time and time again. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
