Milan Records releases the soundtrack to the Amazon series Night Sky by composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans. Spanning space and time, Night Sky follows Irene and Franklin York, a couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended... and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined... The soundtrack for Night Sky delivers exactly what you'd imagine given the premise of the show, being full of themes that bring forth images of wonderment and intrigue. The album contains 19 tracks (53 min, 12 sec) and it never for a second dips in quality. It's not bad as a standalone album, but it definitely helps if you've seen the show. Talking about the music, composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans say: "The score for Night Sky moves between cosmic elements, romance, action, faith, mystery, and family drama, keeping things exciting and fresh musically. The music is full of very descriptive romantic melodies and passionate live solo performances. We used lots of piano, smaller string ensembles, church organ, full orchestra and a myriad of electronic sounds. We particularly enjoyed writing the themes for the other-worldly elements – a sense of wonder, beauty, triumph, possibility, and awe." While far from an essential purchase there are enough interesting themes here to make it worth checking out if you're a fan of the show. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
