Xtra Mile Recordings release Bandaid Brigade's new LP, Sex Is Terrifying. Formed on one of Joey Cape’s (Lagwagon) One Week Records tours, the band has since evolved into a unique unit producing music with powerful choruses and soaring melodies, all injected with '80s synths, plaintive punk guitars and self-deprecating but poignantly poetic lyrics... Sex is Terrifying builds on the '70s and '80s-inspired foundations of Bandaid Brigade’s first album, I’m Separate. There's certainly still a '70s/'80s rock vibe in the foundations of this release but it also has a modern approach that make it feel like a timeless album. As the album rumbles on it soon becomes clear that its 12 tracks (1 hr, 22 min, 22 sec) pretty much cover all bases from '70s rock ('Stand Still') to '90s indie ('Loveless Love'), to punk ('Hit the Buck'). You love '80s rock? Then you'll get a kick out of 'Did You Dream'. I mean, really, this could not have been more wide reaching and that's a big part of its charm. The band's approach from track to track is also worthy of note. The production of each song has been carefully mixed to give is a completely different feel and sound from the other tracks on the album - and that's no easy feat to accomplish successfully. A rich, varied collection of impressive rock songs. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
