Milan Records releases two albums of music from A Jazzman's Blues, the Netflix film written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry. The soundtrack features songs arranged and produced by Terence Blanchard, as well as the original score, which features instrumental music by Aaron Zigman. A tale of forbidden love set in the deep South, the film is soundtracked by some of the most popular juke joint blues of the ‘30s and ‘40s... The soundtrack for A Jazzman's Blues contains 14 tracks (44 min, 29 sec). The majority of these are songs from the film, with just 2 tracks (6 min, 04 sec) representing Aaron Zigman's original score. And, whilst I enjoyed some of the songs (particularly Ruth B's 'Paper Airplanes') it was Zigman's wonderful score that made the biggest impression on me. For fans of the movie, and jazz, this is a wonderful musical souvenir, but for casual soundtrack collectors this is perhaps a little too niche. Personally, whilst I've added both of Zigman's tracks to a favourite playlist, I doubt I'll be returning to play this again anytime soon. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
