To celebrate the 30 year anniversary of Shakespears Sister’s seminal album Hormonally Yours, London Records have announced a special edition release across multiple limited edition formats. A double platinum and top 3 UK album Hormonally Yours secured Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit a place in British pop history, spawning the single Stay - which spent eight consecutive weeks at the top of the UK charts - and winning the duo an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection... I originally bought this album, 30 years ago, on its original release. I don't remember being overly struck with it and I'd long since tossed Shakespears Sister into the back of my mind. It was only when we received this 30th anniversary edition to review that I vaguely recalled them, but couldn't remember, for the life of me, any of their singles other than 'You're History' (which doesn't appear on this release). On the first play through, I instantly recalled 'Stay' and vaguely remembered some of the other tracks, but none really held my attention. It was only several listens later that I started to really appreciate the songs - especially tracks like 'My 16th Apology'. It's good to see that these songs have stood the test of time. For those, like me, who remember Shakespears Sister from their past, I recommend picking up this interesting and still fresh collection of timeless songs. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
