Sony Music Masterworks releases the soundtrack for the fifth season of the Netflix original series, The Crown, with music by composer Martin Phipps. With the new decade in its stride, the Royal Family are presented with possibly their biggest challenge to date; as the public openly question their role in '90s Britain... Martin Phipps, once again, delivers a spectacularly diverse and engaging collection of themes. Like his work on seasons 3 and 4, his contributions to season 5 really help to set the tone for the show. Not only does his music work wonderfully in the series, but it also stands alone as a stunning collection of themes in its own right. There's all the regal splendour you'd expect in tracks like 'Ipatiev House' (which focuses on the horn section of the orchestra) and 'Hasnat'. Elsewhere, 'To the Grave' delivers a beautifully melancholic work that is both hypnotic and moving. If you've been following Phipps work on the show, you'll be pleased, but no doubt not surprised, to discover he turns in yet another incredible collection of themes. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
