Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release the latest album from Maximilien Mathevon. Ambient Soundspaces is an electronic LP that reflects the sounds of imagined places. The end result is a subjective collection of themes which will conjure up different images in each listener's mind... Ambient Soundspaces is a bit of a diversion from Maximilien Mathevon's usual fair. I have to admit that on the first play through I wasn't a fan. It took me quite a few listens to appreciate the complexities and nuances contained within these 8 themes (35 min, 04 sec). I was especially drawn to 'Ambient Soundspaces 6', which had the spirit of Vangelis at its core. Talking about the album, Mathevon said: "Each place has its own atmosphere, its own sounds, its own music that we feel and imagine. It is that of deserted, forgotten places, which one contemplates alone, far from the crowds and the hectic life, that interested me. These singular places which have, in a way, a soul that I wanted to express in music. It is therefore these sensations, these musical environments that Ambient Soundspaces evokes: a music that I wanted to be contemplative and immersive, whose sounds mix, appear and disappear according to its evolutions. Each of the 8 parts of this album has its own personality, its own evolution, its emotion." It's certainly diverse and will conjure up vivid imagery in the listener's mind. You'll be transported to your own ambient spaces. The end result is relaxing and very satisfying. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
