Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Fabrizio Mancinelli's original score for The Boat. In the movie three couples decide to spend a weekend together in the Mediterranean, on a yacht. They are almost all rich, used to the good life, and this trip is an opportunity to spend time together and settle old grudges. After the first day of celebration, sea and sun, the cruise takes a disturbing turn when they wake up to find that they're adrift in the middle of the sea... The score to The Boat consists of 15 tracks (42 min, 31 sec). Composer Fabrizio Mancinelli delivers a little of everything here. There's beautifully tranquil moments ('Diving In', 'Offshore'); suspense ('Lost at Sea', 'I Didn't Want to Drag You into This Mess); and horror (on the opening and closing 'Haunting Memories' and 'Haunting Memories No Vin'). It's mostly unsettling suspense themes that are on offer here, but thankfully they're subtle and beautifully handled. It's interesting, because this is the sort of movie score I'd normally shy away from, expecting a formulaic, tried and tested flat delivery. However, Mancinelli really dives in and pulls out all the stops to deliver a score that is worthy of your time. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
