A new Studio Cast Recording of a ‘Rock’n’Troll musical for Kids (& their Nannies). The Three Billy Goats gruff is the final show in a trilogy of family-friendly musicals from the pens of Olivier Award-winning musical theatre creatives George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, in what Stiles and Drewe describe as a “trilogy of trios”. The companion pieces previously released by SimG Records are The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks And The Three Bears. With a score filled with trade-mark Stiles and Drewe tuneful melodies and crisp, witty lyrics, The Three Billy Goats Gruff was commissioned by the Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Little Company and the original production was directed by Anthony Drewe. The show reminds children to take notice of warnings of danger, as well as to appreciate what they already have - the grass may not always be greener on the other side of the fence... The third and final project in Stiles and Drewe's "trilogy of trios" is based on the traditional Norwegian folk tale, The Billy Goats Gruff. Here it's presented as a fun musical for children. The album consists of 12 tracks (33 min, 50 sec), with orchestrations by Ruth Ling, and performed by a stellar West End cast: with Olivier nominee Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar, Dreamgirls), Millie O’Connell (Cher, Six), and two-time Olivier nominee Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard, Prince Of Broadway) as the Billy Goats, Lizzie Bea (Hairspray, Sister Act) as Little-Bo Frilly, and three-time Olivier award-winner David Bedella (& Juliet, In The Heights, Jerry Springer) as the Troll. While designed as a musical for children, with it's memorable songs and upbeat performances, The Three Billy Goats Gruff is sure to be a hit with all members of the family. 9 Nick Smithson |
