Set on the floating island of Vastus Isle, once a magic workshop now in ruins and exploited to run AI experiments, you are tasked to take on battles to push back the army of LAWS (Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems) that are roaming around and help Stella, the humanoid AI left in charge of ALTAIR, to maintain peace. Move from map to map while enjoying the feeling of transcendent sword fighting. Take advantage of your surroundings by climbing and gliding to easily take on enemies. Experience a wide range of attacks only possible in the VR world, like Shockwaves and Surge Mode...
Altair Breaker is an engaging anime style sword combat game. However, bear in mind, that this has arcade game aesthetics rather than opting for realistic mechanics. If you go in knowing what you're in for then there's a lot of fun to be had. The anime style will be a selling point for some... a turn off for others. The game also comes with a co-op mode which allows you to team up with up to 3 players from around the world and take on enemies together.
I'm not the greatest melee combat fan, and this really didn't deliver anything to change my mind. Sure, it's fun and engaging... but it soon got repetitive and I got to the point where I was plodding on solely because I had to review it. VR has quite a few sword based games and Altair Breaker, to my mind, falls short on a number of levels. Having said that if you're looking for a fun and frantic combat offering where you don't really have to think too much... there's quite a bit to enjoy here. 6 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
