Dogfight: A Sausage Bomber Story is an old school sideways scrolling shooter that will bring back waves of nostalgia to those of us of a certain age. It has a distinct '90s feel to it and that, depending on your point of view, will be one of its main charms, or the reason you won't get on with it. Any warmth you have towards this, from your childhood memories of this style of game, soon evaporates when you start to notice that the levels are just a little too monotonous. Sure, they're bright, colourful and busy, but it doesn't take long to realise that there's little in the way of variety. The boss fights are fun, but it won't take you long to work out how to defeat them.
You can play solo or in four-player simultaneous multiplayer mode, but even on solo mode the game isn't overly challenging. A word of warning if you are planning on buying this. If you search for it on the PS Store, don't use its full title. You'll need to search for just "Dogfight" and then look for the game cover that shows "A Sausage Bomber Story" as the logo. A slice of retro gaming that won't break the bank, but equally won't rock your world. 6 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
