Complete each course as quickly as possible

The online blurb for Classic Racers Elite states that it's a hill climb game. But I have to take issue with this description. Most of the tracks appear to be flat, but that's not overly important. The aim of the game is to complete each course as quickly as possible, beating the set time limit in order to pass that track. Complete enough tracks in time and you'll open up more challenging ones. For each group of tracks you unlock you'll be given a selection of cars to choose from. Each has their own abilities and choosing the right car for each track is important. You'll also need to choose the correct car that suits your driving style.

Each car has three different views. You can race from inside the cockpit, from a bonnet cam or third person behind the car. I loved the interiors of the cockpit views, but I was so wishing that there had been the option to race in VR mode.

Graphically, the game looks fairly good. For the most part the cars handle well, although I was a little disappointed to see that if you crash then the reverse doesn't really seem to do much. Also, if you come off the track and the game auto resets you back on the course, it places you where you were just before you left the track, which means it's a little cumbersome to get back into the racing. What this means is that once you crash you might as well just restart that level, as you've very little chance of completing the track in the remaining time limit.

There's a good mix of cars, which are listed in four car categories, from micro to classic formula 1 cars. There are 12 championships, 17 different locations and a total of 50 tracks (variations from the 17 tracks include reversed segment and slaloms).

For racing fans, this is an interesting enough game and while it's solo racing, checking the leaderboards gives you something to strive for. I also loved the slight changing of the name of well known advertising brands.

It's not the best racer on the market, but what it does it does well.
