The Pale Reach is the first official expansion for Dredge - a cosmic horror fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. The DLC offers an additional 1-3 hours of gameplay

The Pale Reach is the first DLC release for Dredge, a truly original game that still keeps me entertained. If I'm being honest I'm not overly convinced that the developers should have released this as paid DLC.

There's not enough content here to get overly excited about. While it's cheap and cheerful, it's also not going to entertain you for that long. The developers admit that it only adds an extra 1-3 hours of additional content with its new side story.

However, you now have access to hour new pieces of equipment to catch 11 new fish and crab species. You can also craft a new boat add-on to smash through the ice; Purchase ice blocks to extend the shelf-life of your most valuable catches; and there are eight new trophies.

Discover a mystery frozen under the ice

If, like me, you loved the original game then this adds a little more content. There's not enough to drag you back if you got bored of the main game, but it's great to see the developers adding additional content to continue to support the game and its followers.

It's a good way to support the developers and hopefully, if enough people purchase this then hopefully they'll add more interesting content in the near future.

For those who can't get enough of the base game, this offers a little extra gameplay for you to sink your teeth into. The new side story is entertaining enough to keep you engaged for a few hours.
