Plaza Mayor Company Ltd release Navid Hejazi's original score for The Kid Behind the Iron Door. The film is an American mystery adventure drama written by Amy Amani and Farnaz Samiinia and directed by Farnaz Samiinia... Composer Navid Hejazi delivers some impressive themes and set pieces on his score for The Kid Behind the Iron Door. The album contains 11 tracks (18 min, 55 sec), making it more an EP than a full LP. The accordion is an integral instrument in the score, giving the soundtrack something of a European flavour. There's certainly a feeling of this having French roots. It's an interesting sound and makes it stand out in a crowded market. Discussing the music, Hejazi says: "The signature sound elements from this score are a combination of original musical ideas based on popular Persian melodies and French rhythms. The Persian feeling goes with the character’s background and setting from the story, while the French elements bring a friendly comedy tone, which represents the playful spirit of Neda, our main character. Accordion and piano are a fundamental part of the score, along with different emotional string ensemble themes. For scarier moments, a hybrid background with sporadic organic elements leave space for tension". Thematically it's interesting, and from track to track the score shifts and changes, making the short run time appear longer than it actually is. Hejazi delivers an interesting, if short, score that doesn't disappoint. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
