Andrés Sánchez Maher and Gus Reyes's score for Adolfo is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. When Momo, Hugo and his cactus, Adolfo meet one night, they are heading in opposite directions. Their encounter will not only magically change the course of their lives, but also encourage them to embrace the beauty of the unexpected...

The score for Adolfo consists of 10 tracks (31 min, 05 sec). It's mainly comprised of subtle, emotional themes. The themes build slowly as the album progresses and what we end up with is a mellow soundscape that not only underpins the movie, but also works well as a standalone collection of tranquil music.

Discussing the music, director Sofia Hausa says: "The first conversation I had with Gus and Andrés was about the night. We talked about how the night sounds and feels, how noises and lights and everything that is not important fades away, so it becomes a space that can be lonely but at the same time very intimate. I think we were all kind of fascinated by the idea of creating that progression with the music in the film. From there we landed on the tone, which quickly started revolving around the word nostalgia. Then we just explored, and what is so beautiful about what Gus and Andrés accomplished with this score is how they told a story that revolves so much around loss and pain with such bright and luminous music, playing such an important part in defining the film."

It's a sweet little score that has so many layers. While a bit of a slow burner, and certainly not one for those looking for epic themes, it's certainly one you'll get plenty out of.
