Reel People’s first original album in over a decade, Love2 is produced by core collective Oli Lazarus, Mike Patto and Toni Economides, joined by a fresh vocal line-up including Raheem DeVaughn, Muhsinah, Chantae Cann, Michael Champion, Paula, Jill Rock Jones, Eric Roberson and Arrested Development’s Speech... Reel2 is a welcome, upbeat, breath of fresh air. The album consists of 10 (42 min, 17 sec) tracks and stands on the shoulders of giants. There's more than a little nod and a wink to Stevie Wonder's output in the '70s, most notably his work on Innervisions. And this sits side by side, perfectly with more modern tracks like 'Deja Vu'. It's infectious and hard to ignore, once Love 2 gets its hooks into you. As the LP moved ever forward I was struck by how skillfully Reel People takes sounds of the past and drags them kicking and screaming into a modern setting. It's engaging, upbeat and one of the catchiest collections I've heard in a very long time. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
