Plaza Mayor Company Ltd releases the original soundtrack to War Trap by David Aboucaya. During the Second World War, following an ambush carried out in a fort by German troops, Eugen, a French soldier, finds himself trapped underground. Now fighting for his survival, his destiny will play out alongside that of another survivor and both must find the energy to extricate themselves from a certain death, unaware of the terrible battle that awaits them on the outside...

David Aboucaya's original score for War Trap is interesting, diverse and well realised for the project it was composed for. There are numerous intricate themes that come and go throughout the album's 28 tracks (55 min, 43 sec), but there wasn't really anything memorable to sink your teeth into. After the tenth time of listening to this I was no nearer to getting to know it as I was on the first play through.

While that's not necessarily a bad thing, I couldn't help feeling disappointed that I didn't find a single track that I wanted to add to my "favourites" playlist. I suppose it's designed to be a subtle, easy score that doesn't get in the way of the movie's action.

There are elements of horror throughout, but this is by no means a horror score. There was a little of everything here... Which is either it's selling point or reason not to buy, depending on your point of view.

For fans of the movie this is an interesting release. There are so many intricate passages that it'll be an age until you truly explore the complexities of the score in full.

I enjoyed it, overall. It's a well conceived score, which is a little different from the norm.
