Silva Screen Records digitally release Arthur Sharpe’s soundtrack for The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies. The dark, comic and unpredictable five-episode thriller series follows Alistair Petrie’s sleazebag serial scammer, Robert, engaging in a game of cat and mouse with Alice, the abandoned ex-wife who thought he was dead, and Cheryl the successful fantasy author who he is currently attempting to extort money from... Arthur Sharpe's score for The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies is one, I'd argue, that will only really appeal to those that enjoyed the series. Whilst it's diverse and interesting, it's one that I can't help feeling will age quite quickly. There's little meat to get hold of here and a lot of the tracks are merely designed to sit in the background and not be overly noticeable. If you're looking for strong themes, then on balance this won't be to your liking. There's a lot of ambient, suspense cues. And these are interesting. But, again, they're not the sort of music you'll want to sit and give your full attention to. There are some short bursts of engaging themes - 'Couplets' and 'Building Mania', for example - but on balance these are few and far between. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
