Plaza Mayor Company release Corrado Barchi's original soundtrack for Fortune Cookie. In a port province in Liguria, Italy, Leo tries to keep alive the business he inherited from his father. Despite the ongoing issues with Tonino, the owner of a Chinese restaurant, Leo will do anything to avoid losing the family business... even it if means turning to illegal activity...

The 34 tracks (54 min, 14 sec) that make up the soundtrack for Fortune Cookie are bizarrely thrown together. There are so many styles here that it's almost impossible to know where to start.

Fans of the movie will obviously know what they're letting themselves in for, but for everyone else this really is a strange collection of pieces. Hats off to composer Corrado Barchi, he really is given the opportunity to showcase all of his strengths here, as well as being able to indulge in a little bit of creativity that wouldn't have been afforded him elsewhere.

Personally, I found it a rather hard listen in isolation. There are a lot of music cues and background segments that don't make for comfortable listening outside of the movie... but the music is certainly original and grabs your attention. From the dance aesthetics of tracks like 'Danza Alla Luna' (which almost feels like a Chemical Brothers track for a Wipeout racing game) to the hauntingly choral opening of pieces like 'Il Molo Della Disperazione' this is one score you will certainly divide opinion.

Whilst I enjoyed the creativity on show it wasn't one I'd want to listen to all that often.
