Anthony Chue's original score for Man on the Edge is released via Plaza Mayor Company. Lok, a Hong Kong undercover policeman, struggles in the conspiracy between gangs and the police in order to investigate the truth of gangs’ drug trafficking... I really enjoyed my time with the soundtrack for Man on the Edge. Diversity is key here. And I was really impressed, as the 42 tracks (1 hr, 04 min, 41 sec) rattled along, how unique each and every piece was. All bases are covered, from the Bond-esque 'Failed Transaction' and 'Eliminated' to the haunting sound of the bagpipes at the centre of 'Salute'. This is a unique and rather unexpected, considering the movie's premise, collection of deep, reflective themes. There's action and adventure as well as more soulful, reflective moments. Talking about the project, composer Anthony Chue says: "This film was a pleasure to score because of the diversity of styles of music, which consisted of everything from Celtic to dreamy New Age to Flamenco to Buddhist chants. At the same time, it was challenging trying to keep the music within a unifying 'sinister' tone. And it was a pleasure recording Gaayatri Kaundinya’s beautiful voice, as well as the Irish whistle and bagpipes performed by the wonderful Eric Rigler." A delightful score that doesn't disappoint. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
