Premiere Publishing presents Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters. The ultimate behind-the-scenes companion to the hit 1980s classic Ghostbusters has been curated and written by filmmaker and journalist Claire Bueno, following the release of the documentary feature of the same name, by the brother and sister duo of Bueno Productions. The book is a cast and crew’s memoir of Ghostbusters, making it the perfect gift for the Ghostbusters fan in your life... Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters represents a forensic deep-dive into the making of the original Ghostbusters film and a fascinating insight into the ambitious film-making period of the 1980s. The book is laid out as snippets of information from cast, crew, locals who lived in the area of the filming locations, fans and pretty much anyone who has even the most tenuous connection to the movie. This makes it a deep, interesting dive into a large cross section of society and their recollection of the movie during and after production. However it's biggest strength is also it's worst flaw. There are so many names thrust in your face that keeping track of who is "talking" becomes a little hard to keep on top of. Some of the memories contradict one another, as you'd expect from people recounting stories from decades ago, but the majority work well to give an overall picture of events. I loved the fact that Claire Bueno gives us everything. The extensive interviews with cast, creatives and crew captured for the documentary, some of whom are sadly no longer with us, are presented in the book for the first time in their entirety, enabling a wealth of material to be saved and shared from the cutting-room floor. Hearing the tales and insights of 56 cast members, creatives and crew, we are taken scene-by-scene through the making of the movie, as they reveal how they overcame numerous challenges to create one of the best-loved movie franchises of all time. The book also features personal archives and details the making of the Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters documentary, which was produced by Claire Bueno and directed by Anthony Bueno. Through 74 chapters, the book details the chronology of the film, with the full interviews being interspersed throughout, shedding a light on the different areas of pre-production, production and post-production on the film. This is a fantastically in-depth look at just about every conceivable aspect of the movie. For fans of Ghostbusters, it doesn't come much more comprehensive than this. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
