Primal Survivors takes a tried and tested format

For fans of retro gaming, Primal Survivors takes a tried and tested format and delivers it in a new package. While there's little original here, it's still a blast if you're a fan of the genre.

You start off choosing your weapon before heading out to defend against an endless stream of beasts. You have a choice of standing still and letting them come to you, or constantly moving away from the hoard as it grows. The game is simple: Enemies come at you from all angles and you must kill them with your weapon. But be careful, if you're not careful then the rampaging beasts start to swarm if you don't take them out, and you'll soon find yourself with way too many enemies to take down at once.

Earn enough points and you'll be able to choose between three cards, all of which offer perks depending on your playing style. These help to keep you going, keeping the beasties at bay.

Earn points to unlock upgrades

The game offers a variety of 12 weapons for you to master and eliminate the threats that stand in your way. There are three bosses with unique behaviours and tactics.

And if you're in a rush you back play the 10-minute bonfire mode. This is perfect when you have friends over and you want to see who is the most skillful.

While it might seem a little dated to some modern gamers, it's cheap and addictive enough to ensure all members of the family can play.
