In the driving sim genre, Alaskan Road Truckers offers something a little different. With harsh weather and driving conditions you are tasked with running your own haulage company which means providing maintenance to your vehicles to ensure that they are roadworthy. This makes the game more challenging and certainly more immersive. You might be stranded and low on funds for roadside assistance. In which case you'll need to leave the safety of your cab and fix your truck, if you can brave the wintry conditions. You also need to ensure that you have enough fuel as well as taking into consideration hunger, fatigue and body temperature to keep yourself healthy. While the roads can be treacherous, with snow and ice to navigate, but you'll also need to battle the elements with mud slides, avalanches, fallen trees and blizzards.
There are three difficulty levels to ensure that you get the most out of the game. The only slight issue I had were the constant bugs that crop up. On my first attempt at playing, the sound cut out, resulting in me having to restart in order to fix the problem. The slow response to bring up the options menu is also unforgivable. As an aside if this had been a VR compatible game it would have been an essential purchase. Minor bugs aside, I enjoyed my time on the road with Alaskan Road Truckers. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
