Face of against evil mutated toys

Gori: Cuddly Carnage is a third-person hack 'n' slash adventure that sees you play as wisecracking cat Gori as you weave around the environments on your sentient hoverboard. It's a pretty run-of-the-mill affair, but the futuristic environments and engaging gameplay should keep you distracted for a while. From neon-drenched city streets and toy factories awash with deadly toxins, to twisted carnivals and the insides of arcade machines - each level is filled with lethal environmental hazards and mutated toys to push your combat and platforming skills to their limits.

You must battle through the blood-thirsty hordes of the Adorable Army, using your hoverboard as your weapon. Power slide, grind and spin to cause total carnage and high combo scores. The Adorable Army is mostly comprised of evil zombie-esque unicorns, all with different abilities. Sadly it's the focus on just one main enemy that holds this game back. In addition, being trapped in an area having to defeat wave after wave of these creatures, until you unlock the entrance to the next area, soon gets a little tiring.

Your main foe: deranged, zombie unicorns

The controls take a little getting used to and the camera angles can get a little frustrating. If you're mid-attack, moving in circles, you'll need to keep a tight control on your camera movements if you want to ensure you can keep tabs on the enemy.

I enjoyed my time with Gori. It just has a tendency to feel like you're just going through the motions. Maybe more varied enemies would have helped spice it up a little and give it a bit more longevity. Still for under £20 you can't really grumble. It's a nice looking game that is well polished.
