Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is set in a world filled with Studio Ghibli-inspired visuals. The game play harks back to traditional RPG games with an emphasis on the story element. It's a game with a lot of additional optional content that can be accessed, or ignored. The world is fleshed out with colourful characters and you can spend a good portion of your time chatting to random villagers. The main part of the game sees you choosing and building your squad and ensuring that they are battle ready. When on missions you engage in turn-based battles against enemies in much the same way as traditional RPGs battle scenarios on the ground play out.
The world is stunning if you're a fan on anime artwork, and the missions are varied and a lot of fun. The tutorial is essential, and thankfully plays out as part of the main game, ensuring you never feel like you're playing a tutorial. There are quite a few game breaking bugs, which are only really a pain if you don't save frequently. At one point I managed to jump outside of the gaming arena and no matter what I tried, I couldn't jump back in, resulting in me having to restart from the last save point. Whilst not an essential purchase, anime and classic RPG fans should certainly check this out. It's charming story and challenging battle elements make for a well rounded game. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
