A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a single-player horror adventure game inspired by the movie franchise that highlights a unique survivor story after an invasion of deadly creatures. In this exclusive spin-off, experience the journey of a young woman who must endure a treacherous apocalypse in the midst of interpersonal family conflicts, all while coming to terms with her own inner fears...

The game suffers from its "Get from Point A to Point B without being detected" mechanics

For survival horror fans, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead takes the franchise and delivers an interesting original story.

For me, the most enjoyable aspect was the slow suspenseful build. The game starts with a built in tutorial, which sets up the game's narrative. And, once the monsters are introduced it's very much a case of hearing them and seeing glimpses of them in the shadows. This helps greatly to create a creepy atmosphere, that will keep you on your toes.

However, it soon becomes apparent that the gameplay is just a bolt on to the immersive story. One wrong move (and nine times out of ten this will be totally accidental) and you're instantly dead. You have to walk slowly, avoid objects that make a noise, whilst you're slowly shepherded around the environment.

As atmospheric and tense as the game is, I soon started to tire of the: "Get from Point A to Point B without being detected" mechanics. There's a great game here. Unfortunately it's buried under a lacklustre gaming mechanic that ends up delivering a pretty run-of-the-mill horror offering.
